Larry's Resignation Letter to the District

March 11, 2011

Dr. Stan Toler, General Superintendent

17001 Prairie Star Parkway

Lenexa, KS  66220

Nebraska District Advisory Board

Dear Dr. Toler and District Advisory Board Members:

After much thought and prayer, I am submitting my resignation as the Nebraska District Superintendent effective April 18, 2011.  I will continue to live in Lincoln through the end of June so would be available to consult with and mentor a new district superintendent.  I will plan to attend District Assembly, if that meets with your approval.

It has been a great honor to serve as the Nebraska District Superintendent for the last seven and a half years.  When I began my pastoral ministry I had no idea that God would allow me to serve in this capacity.  Nebraska will always have a special place in our hearts.  Linda and I are so blessed to have had the joy of serving with the wonderful pastors and people of Nebraska.  We believe that God has great things in store for the people called Nazarenes here in Nebraska.

You will be hearing from Dr. Stan Toler, our presiding General Superintendent, soon.

In the Name of Him who is More than Able,

Larry W. White

District Superintendent

Dr. Toler's Letter of Dan Cole's Appointment

March 16, 2011

Dear Nebraska District Family:

Greetings in the strong name of Jesus Christ!

I am writing to inform you that as a result of the retirement of Dr. Larry W. White as superintendent of the Nebraska District, I have appointed Rev. Daniel W. Cole to serve in this leadership position. Rev. Cole will serve in a dual role as superintendent of the Nebraska District as well as pastor of Omaha Central Church of the Nazarene. Please allow me to give you the background for this decision.

Dr. Bob Broadbooks, our USA/Canada regional director, has worked tirelessly with the District Advisory Board (DAB), conducting meetings with the DAB and various auxiliary organizations of the district. On February 19, 2011, the DAB and departmental leaders met in Hastings, Nebraska to:

·         determine criteria for the dual role of district superintendent/pastor.

·         discuss the type of person that would fit this leadership role.

·         recommend three names to the Board of General Superintendents for approval or appointment as superintendent of the Nebraska District.

The vote taken on this action was 9 yes and 0 opposed.

In consultation with and given the undivided support of the Board of General Superintendents, I enthusiastically appoint Rev. Daniel Cole as superintendent of the Nebraska District for a period of two years effective upon the retirement of Dr. Larry White on April 18, 2011.

The board of Omaha Central Church of the Nazarene has given its unanimous approval for Rev. Cole to assume the dual role of pastor and district superintendent. He will begin his new duties on April 19, 2011.

I have asked Dr. White to act as mentor to District Superintendent Cole through the 2011 Nebraska assembly in June and to give his final report to the assembly at that time. Dr. White has served the district and the church with excellence. We extend our sincere gratitude to Larry and Linda for their faithful ministry and leadership as your district superintendent.
